Codicils and FreeWill
A codicil is a legal document that adds to or amends an existing last will and testament.
Most lawyers recommend that when updating your will, creating a new one instead of relying on a codicil is best. Creating a new will may reduce the risk of will contest or invalidation. Also, a will with multiple codicils may be difficult to navigate in probate court, so probate is likely to cost more and take longer.
Currently, FreeWill doesn't provide the option to create a codicil to your will. However, FreeWill documents are free, which means you can create a new one with all your updated wishes or edit your current one and make any changes you'd like.
